About the Library
The Clairton School District currently houses two libraries. One for the Elementary students, and one for the Middle and High School students.

The Elementary Library, located on the Ground floor in the center of the building, contains materials appropriate to students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. The books found in the Elementary library include picture books, beginner chapter books, Non-fiction books, Reference, African American Collection, Holiday Books, Caldecott and Coretta Scott King Award Winners. There is also a professional collection for staff which includes books, videos and books-on-tape.

The High School Library is for the use of students from grades Six through Twelve.
The High School Library is located on the Second (top) floor above the High School entrance.
The materials found in the Secondary Library include a large selection of chapter books, non-fiction, reference, African-American Collection, Career and College Reference, journals and Newbury Award Winners.

Classes may be scheduled in both libraries with advance notice. Teachers are required to stay with their classes.

Overdue Book Policy
All books borrowed from the Elementary Library are due back in one week. Books borrowed from the High School Library are due back in two weeks. All overdue books are to be returned immediately. If a book is not returned by the end of a grading period, the student will not receive his or her report card for that grading period. Notices will be mailed to the students' homes before the end of each grading period if a book is due. Seniors with overdue books will not be able to receive their diplomas. To receive a report card, the student will be required to return all overdue books or pay for the cost of the books if they are lost or damaged.

Computer Usage Policy
Computers in the library are available for educational usage only. This restricts access to games, chat rooms and e-mail. All students must have a hall pass AND a note from their teacher allowing them to use the computer. This will be closely monitored by the librarian and subject to the librarian's decision. Failure to adhere to this policy will be directed to the attention of the principal.
