The school nurse is to be informed of all students who are unable to participate in gym class or contact sports.
A parent or guardian may request in writing a gym excuse for a student for up to 3 days for a medical problem that does not appear to require a physician’s care.
A student who is unable to participate in gym class due to illness or injury and is under a medical provider’s care, must bring a written note from the medical provider to the health office. The note must include the diagnosis and expected length of time the student is to be excused from PE, gym, or contact sports.
Any student who is unable to participate in gym class is also excluded from participating in school sports until medically cleared.
After the expected time has lapsed, the student must have a written note from the medical provider stating that he or she is cleared to resume school activity.
