Dear Clairton Families:
As you may be aware, the Secretary of the PA Department of Health issued two new Orders on Tuesday, November 17, 2018 regarding COVID-19 mitigation, a face mask order and a travel order.
The universal face mask order is updated and does not significantly change what we are now doing. Every individual age 2 or older is to wear a mask at all times even when social distancing. For schools, students, staff and teachers must continue to wear a mask indoors or in an enclosed space, where another person or persons who are not members of the individual’s household are present in the same space, irrespective of physical distance. Mask wearing is also required outdoors with others who are not members of the same household when you are unable to maintain sustained social distancing. This would include during the school day or on a school bus.
We may still give our students a mask break of ten minutes or less, however, students must be social distancing. Students who choose not to comply with this order will be transferred to full time remote learning at home. The health and safety of our staff and students is our number one priority.
The travel order requires anyone leaving Pennsylvania to get tested within 72 hours of returning or quarantine for 14 days before returning to in-person school or work. A negative test result is required to resume in-person school or work. Students who travel and are returning to Pennsylvania may work remotely from home for the 14 days they are in quarantine. This goes into effect tomorrow, November 20, 2020.
If any student is planning on traveling out of state over the Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays, please let the building principal know, as we are required to monitor out of state travel as much as possible.
All students will work remotely November 25, Wednesday morning the half day prior to Thanksgiving break so work can be completed in the building.
Working together we will keep our school a safe and structured learning environment for our students during this uncertain time.
Take good care and be safe,
Ginny L. Hunt, Ed.D.
