Dear Clairton Families:
Today concludes two weeks of full time in-person learning for our elementary students. I am pleased to report that approximately 70% of elementary students have returned to in-person learning. We are working on a plan to phase in full time in-person learning at the middle/high school as well. Middle school students will begin full time in-person on March 22 and high school students on April 7. Dr. Wilkinson has sent out a Parent Survey to gather information about changes to your preferred learning model. Please look for it and return it as soon as possible.
I want to thank those of you who responded to our Parent Survey regarding remote learning. Parent, teacher and student surveys all agreed that full time in- person learning is superior to remote learning. Our goal of course is to be able to provide full time in- person learning in a safe and healthy learning environment. As more and more people become vaccinated for COVID-19 and the number of cases continue to trend down, that will soon become a reality. Currently, Allegheny County is in the “moderate” phase. Mask wearing, hand washing, and social distancing as much as feasible will be in effect daily at school.
I am pleased to report that the restoration of the elementary school is progressing well. Our goal is to be back in the school immediately after the Spring Holiday break. I will keep you updated if anything changes.
Have nice weekend and enjoy any warm weather that comes our way.
Respectfully,
Ginny L. Hunt, Ed.D.
Superintendent
