Year-End Letter from Dr. Hunt

Dear Clairton Families:

It is hard to believe that it is the end of the 2020-2021 school year.  It seems like this year started last March 18th when the world suddenly changed due to the Pandemic and fifteen months later we are still not quite back to normal.  However, we were thrilled to be able to hold Prom and Graduation ceremonies for our students following recommended health and safety guidelines.

I am pleased to inform you that we are planning a return to In-Person learning in the fall, with the first day for students scheduled for August 23, 2021.  We know our students learn best in school and as long as it is safe we will return to that learning model.  We will continue to offer an online Cyber option for parents desiring another alternative.

Our elementary students are back in their newly updated classrooms with a full elementary gym for the first time in many years.  We are excited to have you tour the building and see the improvements.  This year on Information Day, August 11, 2021, we will hold a grand reopening of the elementary building. Please plan on joining us, there will be food and refreshments provided by DRS, the Restoration Company who completed the work.

This summer we are planning on completing maintenance repairs to the outside of the Education Center and an update of the Middle/High School, courtesy of USS.  We are pleased and fortunate that they have agreed to update our gymnasium, auditorium, hallways, and office areas.  When this work is completed we will hold another reopening celebration for our secondary school.

I hope you and your family plan some enjoyable and relaxing activities this summer.  Providing outdoor activities for your family is good for their mental and physical health.

Be safe and be healthy,

Ginny L. Hunt, Ed. D.
Superintendent
