In-Person Learning Update for February 12, 2021

February 12, 2021

Today I am pleased to tell you that we are in the process of making plans to provide more in-person learning for our elementary students.  This week we are moving elementary classrooms from the middle/high school building into their own classroom spaces.  Our second through fifth grade student classrooms will now be located in the portable classrooms located on the former parking lot opposite the field.  These are spacious temporary classrooms that are used on many school campuses throughout the country.  There are restrooms available and breakfast and lunch will be delivered to the students.

Our kindergarten and first grade students are back in the building in the kindergarten hallway in newly painted, tiled and updated classrooms.  It is our hope to have everyone back in the elementary school by the beginning of April.

Beginning on Monday, February 22, we will implement a schedule change.  Elementary students will attend school from 8:00 am until 2:43 pm on Monday through Thursday and work remotely at home on Fridays.  Middle School students will report for in-person learning at 7:35 am and be dismissed at 11:15 am and work remotely at home in the afternoon from 12:10 pm until 3:00 pm.  High School students will work remotely at home in the morning from 7:50 am until 11:00 am.  They will report to school at 11:35 am and be dismissed at 3:00 pm.  Full-time remote students will continue with their established schedule.

Please be advised that there is no school on Monday, February 15, due to the Presidents’ Day Holiday. Please take a few minutes and respond to the Parent Survey you were sent.  Your feedback is important to us.  Remote learning days have taken the place this winter of our typical snow days as winter weather continues well into next week.  Enjoy the long weekend.

Be safe and stay warm,

Ginny L. Hunt, Ed.D.
Superintendent
