COVID-19 Update for Jan. 3, 2022

Dear Clairton Families,

I wish you and your family a very healthy and prosperous New Year in 2022. As you are aware, the CDC has revised COVID-19 protocols in response to the increasing number of cases nationwide. The isolation and quarantine period has been reduced from 10 days to 5 days based upon what has been learned from the transmission and spread of the disease. I am including a chart which explains the new guidelines. As per the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD), schools are to follow these guidelines. This could change in the future if and when the Pennsylvania Department of Education rules on this matter. I will keep you informed.

My experience is that every case of COVID-19 is unique with various circumstances. If you or your child are ill please continue to call the school nurse or notify the principal or secretary who will notify my office. A follow-up phone call will be made to determine return to school date and educational support as needed. Please know that regardless of the 5-day rule for positive cases, students must be symptom free for 24 hours prior to returning to school. Students in quarantine must be tested after 5 days to return safely. It is only with your cooperation and support that we will be able to keep our school safely open.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call me.

Respectfully,
Ginny Hunt, Ed.D.,
Superintendent
