COVID-19 Notice -- July 3, 2020

Dear Clairton Families,

The Allegheny County Health Department has notified us that one of our student athletes has tested positive for COVID-19. Athletes have been encouraged to test as a precautionary measure prior to beginning football practice. In response and following the ACHD guidelines, all athletes and coaches on the team will be in quarantine for the next two weeks with football practice cancelled until further notice.

We are working collaboratively with the Allegheny County Health Department and families to follow quarantine guidelines and mitigate the spread of COVID-19. If you or your children have had an exposure and are exhibiting any symptoms, please contact your health care provider immediately. The signs and symptoms of COVID-19 are listed below:

  • Fever or chills
  • Headache
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea or Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

The safety, health and welfare of our students and our community is our top priority. As such, our Board of Directors have approved Cornerstone Care to offer free COVID-19 testing on July 17 and July 31 in the school parking lot.

To avoid the spread of this infectious disease please practice social distancing, sanitize or wash hands often, wear facial masks when in public and avoid groups by staying at home whenever possible.

Take care and be safe,
Ginny L. Hunt, Ed.D.
Superintendent
